The Hero Karizma XMR and Yamaha R15 V4 are equipped with different engine displacements. The Hero Karizma XMR has a high displacement, while the Yamaha R15 V4 has a small displacement. The former’s displacement is rated at 210cc, while the latter’s displacement is rated at 155cc. As a result, you can expect to receive a different stage of tune.
The Hero Karizma XMR is a second generation and it’s a successor of the Hero-Honda-built Karizma ZMR. The Karizma has been among the bestselling Hero bikes in the country.
The 2023 iteration of the R15 V4 is an updated version, which includes a new paint and some additional features in the top-of-the-line M variant.
So, let’s begin to weigh these two offerings and see how they are different on the ends of features and specifications. Let’s read on.
Specifications
Before diving straight into the figures, let’s talk about the underpinnings of these two locally-produced vehicles. As for the Hero Karizma XMR, it is structured on Hero’s in-house built steel trellis frame. In parallel, the Yamaha XMR also has an in-house structured Deltabox frame. In addition, the Deltabox frame is widely used to make Yamaha bikes.
These two frames are known for their capabilities and robustness.
Now, as far as the figures are concerned, the Yamaha R15 V4 has a smaller engine displacement than the Hero Karizma XMR does. As a result, they also have different states of tunes.
The fourth version of the Yamaha R15 makes its rear wheels spin by churning out 18.1 bhp at 10,000 rpm and 14.2 Nm of peak torque at 7500 rpm. It is coupled with a standard six-speed manual transmission.
In parallel, the Hero Karizma XMR is powered by a 210cc, single-cylinder engine, which is tuned to churn out 25.15 bhp at 9250 rpm and 20.4 Nm of peak torque at 7250 rpm. It is also mated with a standard six-speed manual transmission. If you are a fan of performance, this indigenous bike should be under your consideration. Check out the Karizma XMR price here.
Moreover, unlike the Hero Karizma XMR, the Yamaha R15 V4 has two ride modes: Track and Street. Apart from that, both bikes have a liquid cooling engine.
For added assist, the Hero Karizma and Yamaha R15 V4 are equipped with assist and slipper clutch.
Their fuel tank capacities are also identical, rated at 11 litres.
Suspensions, Brakes and Tyres
These locally-produced two-wheelers are engineered by keeping the condition of Indian roads in mind. The Hero Karizma XMR stands on a telescopic fork with an anti-friction brush at the front and a six-step pre-load adjustable gas-charged monoshock at the rear. Given the Karizma price, it has an impressive suspension setup.
On the other hand, the Yamaha R15 V4 incorporates an upside-down fork at the front and a linked-type monocross suspension at the rear.
In addition, it is worth noting that these two-wheelers are engineered by keeping the conditions of Indian roads in mind. They can also give a performance-oriented riding experience since they have a racing DNA.
Apart from that, their braking duties are taken care of by dual disc brakes. As for the Karizma XMR, its front disc brake measures 300mm, while its rear disc brake measures 230mm. In contrast, the Yamaha R15 V4’s front disc brake and rear disc brake measure 282mm and 220mm, respectively.
For added safety, both bikes are equipped with a dual-channel ABS. For reference, bikes with dual-disc brakes and dual-channel ABS can drastically decrease the chances of any mishap, as it can prevent the bike from skidding or making a stoppie.
Please note that the offerings mentioned here belong to the feature-loaded variant. However, you can check out the variant-wise R15 price here.
Furthermore, both bikes run on 17-inch alloy wheels. At the same time, they have an identical tyre profile, rated at 100/80 R17 (front) and 140/70 R17 (rear).
Features
As far as the features are concerned, both bikes have a generous number of features. The exclusive offerings of the Hero Karizma XMR include a hazard indicator switch, a USB charging port, GPS and navigation, a low battery indicator, a distance-to-empty indicator, and a service reminder indicator.
In contrast, the Yamaha R15 V4’s exclusive features include an automatic headlamp, a shift light, a quick-shifter, TCS, and a side-stand engine cut-off switch. Given the R15 V4 price, it shouldn’t let you lament the features it has.
However, the common features include a fully digital instrument cluster, a digital fuel gauge, a side-stand alarm, a low fuel indicator, a low battery indicator, a low oil indicator, etc. Further, they share mobile app connectivity, LED DRLs, LED headlights, LED brake/tail lights, LED turn signals and a passing light. Both have a killswitch.
