But the earth is not for supporting life only, it also comprises an incredible range of landscapes, rivers, mountains, highest points, and lowest points that refer to the counterbalanced nature of the earth. Humans started finding out about the natural structure of the Earth from the very beginning of their lives. As a result, today everything is known about the structure of the Earth and its geographical location. Today humans have achieved so much success that satellites are being launched to study the Earth. With the help of all this, it has become very easy to see and understand every corner of the earth. Here, in this article, we will explore the breathtaking places of the earth with the help of maps.

Mount Everest: The Highest Mountain in the World

Do you know what is the highest point on the earth? Of course, it is Mount Everest or Qomolangma (in the Tibetan language, which means goddess mother of the earth). Mount Everest is situated at 29,035 feet above sea level which makes it the highest mountain and the toughest mountain in the world to climb. Because of its high altitude, the air pressure is low and the oxygen level is also curtailed. but before 1856, Everest was not the highest mountain, it was a neighboring mountain Dhaulagiri that was listed as the highest peak of the world in the 1850’s mountains chart. Dhaulagiri is only 26,795 feet above sea level, and at present, it comes to seventh order of the highest peaks in the world. the map views of Everest stimulated the correct location and further research, made Everest the highest one. Ladakh in India is among the hottest city in the worldduring summers, with temperatures sometimes rising above 40°C.

Yet, today many geologists will deny the earth’s highest point on the Everest. The height of any mountains upon the measuring point. How does the measuring point define the height of any mountain? As we know, the Earth is not completely round in shape, it is an oblate spheroid. Earth is uplifted in the middle which supports some equatorial peaks such as Chimborazo, which is an inactive volcano and also the farthest point from the earth’s center. Its peak is 20,946 feet from the center of the earth and 10,560 feet distance from the top of Everest.

Still, if you are looking for the highest mountain, then your search will end at Hawaii’s Mauna Kea which is the highest point of Hawaii island. It is located 13,803 feet above sea level and more than 33,000 feet in total height, measured from the mountain’s base to the highest point. In this way of measurement, Mauna kea beats the entire Himalayan range, including Everest. In the same way, Alaska’s Denali is higher than Everest. In overall height, Everest ranks in third place because its base ranges between 13,800 to 17,000 feet above sea level. And it attains a height of 15,000 feet or less than it from that base. Denali has a base height of 200 to 300 feet above sea level which contributes it a height of approximately 20,000 feet.

Mariana Trench: The Lowest Point On The Earth

The lowest point on the earth is in Mariana Trench, located in Deep Valley, the Pacific Ocean. The lowest known point in the Mariana Trench is known as the Challenger Deep. this point got its name after a depth sounded ( or simply sounded) during a challenger voyage in the 1870s. earlier, the recorded depth was 26,850 feet deep but in the recent sounding process, the shown depth is 35,800 feet approximately below the sea level.

If we comprise all the lands, then Antarctica will top the place, as its Byrd Glacier point is at more than 9,000 feet below sea level.
