These two homegrown bikes from TVS are mechanically more or less the same. The main difference is their distinctive looks. As you might be aware, the Apache RR310 is a sports bike and it boasts to be among the bestselling TVS bikes in the country. The TVS Apache RTR 310 is a newly added flagship streetfighter that rivals the KTM 390 Duke and BMW G310 R. In addition, the Apache RTR 310 is TVS’ most expensive naked bike so far.
Furthermore, the RTR 310 boasts more features, including some first-in-segment offerings.
So, let’s see how the Apache RR 310 stacks up against the newly added RTR 310. Let’s read on.
Visual Differences
Mechanically, they may be the same but visually they have their own identities. As for the TVS Apache RTR 310, this one has a naked bike appearance, while the RR 310 has a typical sports bike appearance. The TVS’ design department gave the RTR 310 its own identity. They haven’t drawn design cues from the BMW G 310 R.
If you look at the pictures in the TVS Apache RTR 310 review, you will most likely find it attractive. To some of you, the RTR 310 may remind you of the Yamaha MT series, Ducati Streetfighters and KTM bikes.
Apart from that, TVS used a steel trellis frame that comes with the new aluminium bolt-on rear frame. In addition, this bike runs on its exclusive eig-spoke alloy rims.
The imposing front fascia, accompanied by a hunkered-down stance, alongside twin full LED headlamps with sharp and chiselled cowl. You will also notice a sharp tail section, which gives it an aggressive look. On the body panels of this streetfighter, you will also see TVS graphics and RTR 310 badging.

So, if you want an aggressive-looking street-naked bike, the RTR 310 should be on your wishlist. In contrast, the RR 310 is a fully-faired bike and is more or less the same as the BMW G 310 RR.
Specifications
The TVS Apache RTR 310 and Apache RR 310 both have more or less the same architecture underneath. The former has a trellis frame, while the latter has a trellis frame with a split chassis. Both bikes have an engine displacement of 312.2cc.
As far as the figures are concerned, the Apache RR 310 pumps out 33.5 bhp at 9700 rpm and 27.3 Nm of peak torque at 7700 rpm. On the other hand, the TVS Apache RTR 310 churns out 35.08 bhp at 9700 rpm and 28.7 Nm of peak torque at 6650 rpm. Moreover, the RR 310 has a top speed of 160 km/h, while its counterpart has a top speed of 150 km/h. On paper, the RTR 310 has better figures than the RR 310.
If these figures are extremely important to you, the RTR 310 should be your bike. The Apache RTR 310 price starts from 2.43 lakh, while the Apache RR 310 price is Rs 2.72 lakh. Both are ex-showroom figures.
Both bikes make their rear wheels spin via a standard six-speed manual transmission. In addition, both engines have liquid cooling. The RR 310 and RTR 310 benefit from a wet multiplate with assist and slipper clutch.
Apart from that, their fuel tank capacities are also identical, rated at 11 litres.
Suspensions, Brakes and Tyres
Let’s begin with the suspension setup of the TVS Apache RR 310. It stands on an inverted cartridge telescopic fork at the front and a two-arm aluminium die-cast swingarm at the rear. On the other hand, the Apache RTR 310 has an upside-down telescopic fork at the front and a solid die-cast aluminium swing arm with monoshock and pre-load adjustability. Both bikes are engineered by keeping the conditions of Indian roads in mind. The TVS engineers have also adopted the racing approach, especially in their Apache bikes.
Apart from that, the braking duties are taken care of by dual-disc brakes. Both bikes are equipped with that setup. Their disc brake sizes are also the same, rated at 300mm (front) and 240mm (rear). At the same time, both bikes run on 17-inch alloy rims and have the same tyre profile, rated at 110/70 R17 (front) and 150/60 R17 (rear).
Moreover, the kerb weight of the Apache RR 310 is 174 kg, making it 5 kg heavier than the Apache RTR 310’s 169 kg of kerb weight.
Features
Both bikes are flagships in their respective portfolios of TVS motors. The TVS Apache RR 310 is a track-focused bike. That said, it can make you expect ergonomics and features tailored for racing.
The RR 310 has a racing kit which comprises raised footrests, an engine rev limit indicator, and race-ergo handlebars. Last, but not least, this bike has four ride modes. Those four ride modes are track, urban, rain, and sport.
But given the RR 310 price, it could have boasted slightly extra features.
In contrast, the exclusive features of the RTR 310 include cruise control and five ride modes. The five ride modes include sport, track, urban, rain, and supermoto.
However, these bikes are nearly identical in terms of features. Their common features comprise ride modes, a fully digital instrument cluster, a digital fuel gauge, and a side-stand alarm. Further, they both have a low fuel indicator, a low oil indicator, and a low battery indicator.
They also share a service reminder indicator, GPS and navigation, a killswitch, an electric start, and a stepped seat with pillion grabrails and footrests.
The Apache RTR 310 and RR 310 also support mobile app connectivity. This feature allows the owner to access the vehicle status, such as live location, last parked location, upcoming maintenance and other relevant information.
As for lighting, both the 310cc TVS bikes have LED DRLs, a shift light, LED headlights, LED brake/tail lights, LED turn signals, and a passing light.
On the safety front, both the homegrown two-wheelers are equipped with dual-channel ABS and automatic headlights.
Prices and Variants
TVS Motors offers the Apache RR 310 in the standard variant, while the RTR 310 is offered in three variants. The TVS Apache RR 310 is priced at Rs 2.72 lakh. In parallel, the TVS Apache RTR 310’s price starts at Rs 2.43 lakh for the base variant, the Arsenal Black without Quickshifter, and goes up to 2.64 lakh for the top variant, the Fury Yellow.
